I have Degree of Bachelor of Arts and the main field of study is Information Design. We studied different illustration techniques from analog to digital. Technical and nature science illustration, 3D illustration and animation. We also designed different media for print and internet.
How it all started.
I just started with pen and paper as kid. People noticed my drawings at elementary school. Art classes where fun! This lead to my first professional experiences during work training as a teenager.
First missions.
Swedish employment service sent me on a mission. They heard me and my wish about illustration. I went on my first training after elementary school at intensive care and heart care unit at Mälardalens Sjukhus Eskilstuna Sweden. At hospital doctors noticed my skills and let me draw medical equipment for internal information.
Next work training at school Krusgårdsskolan Torshälla Sweden. They had a teacher that published educational books for kids. He let me contribute with illustrations.
News paper and commercial agency.
Illustrating for books went on during my military services P10 Strängnäs Sweden. In the end of services during getting my hair cut the hairdresser tipped me about work at a local newspaper. After that call from the military facility I got my first job as an illustrator and advertising graphic creator at Eskilstuna Kuriren.
After some years I became interested about graphic design at advertising agency. I applied job at Spar Snabbgross newly opened studio producing food commercials. I got the job but I chose instead working at Pluto Annonsbyrå, commercial agency in Stockholm. Incredible that I could so far get work at newspaper and commercial agencies first only with skills and then experience without art studies. Though after three years bad conjuncture struck economy. Either PR agencies shut down or got rid of production staff in Stockholm. I dreamt some about studies during work. Now it would be time for studies!
A room full with illustrators!
Following year I kept myself occupied with odd jobs. I thought bad times is best for higher education and getting diploma. Then I might match better times after finishing school.
After my history of being the only or one of few illustrators I found my self in a classroom full with only illustrators! We studied informative illustration and design. I studied technical and nature science illustration.
After bachelor´s degree I was struggling again getting a regular job. I applied for hundreds of jobs. For example I was in final for work at GE Capital and Öhlins Racing in Stockholm. Öhlins Racing contracted me as resource technical illustrator later. I brought Öhlins with me into Condesign. I was in similar situation as before education, filling up my time with odd jobs (examples Folket, Euro Swede Media, JFS Reklam, Trafalgar 016).
Suddenly both IKEA and Condesign wanted me. Ikea as illustrator replacement for twelve months and Condesign as technical illustrator and flash designer for six months.
The later was my choice working with information for Pilots and Technicians at fighter plane JAS Gripen.
Volvo Construction Equipment.
The project ended after some extensions. I worked a short time at printing house Sigillet. But this was not for me. Fortunately Condesign recalled me and I could start at Volvo Construction Equipment. First as Technical Illustrator Consultant. And after a short break some Editor and illustration work. Finally I applied for 100 % Technical Illustrator. Since then I have developed and supported parts catalogue illustration work world wide. I have been to China, India and Poland.
